What Makes a Periodic Table "Interactive"?
A traditional periodic table is a static chart showing 118 elements with their symbols and atomic numbers. An interactive periodic table goes much further — it responds to your clicks, searches, and filters to show you exactly the chemistry data you need.
Key Features of Our Interactive Periodic Table
- Click any element to see its complete data: atomic mass, melting point, boiling point, density, electron configuration, common uses, and a fun fact.
- Search bar: Type an element name ("copper"), symbol ("Cu"), or atomic number ("29") to instantly highlight it.
- Category filter: Click any category in the legend (Alkali metals, Noble gases, etc.) to highlight only that group.
- Quiz mode: Test yourself on element names, symbols, and atomic numbers.
- Print / PDF: Download a clean printable version for studying.
How to Find Any Element in Seconds
Use the search bar at the top. You can search by:
- Element name: Type "hydrogen" or just "hyd"
- Chemical symbol: Type "H" or "Fe" or "Au"
- Atomic number: Type "1" for Hydrogen, "79" for Gold
All non-matching elements fade out, leaving only your result highlighted.
Using the Category Filter for Study
Click any category in the legend bar to filter the table. This is great for studying groups:
- Alkali metals (red): Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Fr — all react violently with water
- Noble gases (pink): He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, Rn — all chemically inert
- Transition metals (yellow): The large middle block including Fe, Cu, Au, Ag
- Halogens (purple): F, Cl, Br, I, At — all highly reactive nonmetals
The Element Quiz – Best Way to Memorize
Click "Quiz" in the navigation to enter quiz mode. You'll be shown an element and asked either its name, symbol, or atomic number. Four answer choices appear — click the correct one. Your score tracks as you go.
Study tip: Start by filtering to one category (e.g., Noble gases), then take the quiz. Memorizing in groups of 6–10 elements is much easier than trying to learn all 118 at once.
Printing the Periodic Table
Click "Print / PDF" in the header. Your browser's print dialog will open. Select "Save as PDF" to download a high-quality printable periodic table with all 118 elements, color-coded by category.
